PREAMBLE

We the Christ Ambassador’s Students’ Out-reach, otherwise referred to as CASOR, University of Lagos chapter, having resolved to live in peace, unity and harmony, as the students evangelical arm of the Assemblies of God Church, Nigeria, in order to propagate the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, do hereby enact, make and give to ourselves the following constitution, this 1st day of September, 2003.

BRIEF HISTORY

CASOR was founded in January 1971 by C.I Onyenadun, he conceived the idea while in Monrovia, Liberia. CASOR Unilag was founded in January 1985.

ARTICLE 1- THE NAME
1.1 The name of this Christian organization on this campus shall be called, “Christ
Ambassadors Students' Out-reach".
1.2 The above name shall be appropriately abbreviated as CASOR (UNILAG CHAPTER)
1.3 The provision of this constitution shall have binding force on all members and
authorities of CASOR (Unilag chapter)

ARTICLE 2-STATEMENT OF FAITH
2.1 WE BELIEVE the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible and authoritative
word of God (2 Timothy 3:16) .
2.2 WE BELIEVE that there is one God, externally existent in three persons, God the
Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.(1 Corinth.12:4-6)
2.3 WE BELIEVE in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ (John 5:36&37), His virgin
birth (Matt.1:18),His sinless life (1 Peter2:22), His miracles (John 10:38),
His death (1 Peter 3:18), His bodily resurrection ( 1Corith.15:20 ),His ascension
to right hand of the Father(Hebrews 10:12) and in His personal future return to
this earth in power and glory(John 11:27).
2.4 WE BELIEVE in the blessed Hope, which is the rapture of the church at Christ’s
coming.(1 Thessa.4:16&17)
2.5 WE BELIEVE that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through the
repentance and faith in the precious blood of Jesus(Hebrews 9:14).
2.6 WE BELIEVE that the regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for
personal salvation(John 3:5).
2.7 WE BELIEVE that the redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing
for the human body in answer to believing prayer(1 Peter 2:24).
2.8 WE BELIEVE that the baptism of the Holy Ghost is given to believers who ask
for it(Acts 2:4).
2.9 WE BELIEVE in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling,
the Christian is enabled to live a holy life(John 5:28&29).
2.10 WE BELIEVE in the resurrection of the saved and the lost; the saved to
everlasting life and the lost ones to everlasting damnation(John 5;28&29).

ARTICLE 3-AIMS AND OBJECTIVES.
3.1 To provide a forum for fellowship and spiritual development of students in the
University of Lagos.
3.2 To maintain the spiritual well being of its members, within and outside the school
environment.
3.3 (a.)To provide avenues for evangelism through out-reach programmes, Bible
Studies, Prayer Meetings, Musical Concerts and other Christian programme.
(b.)To reach out for converts, groom and establish them in the faith.
3.4 To take care of peculiar needs and interest of its members, such as those bothering
on emotional and academic matters.

ARTICLE 4-MEMBERSHIP
4.1 The membership shall include any student of University of Lagos who show interest
in and wish to abide by the provisions of this constitution
4.2 In addition, the membership shall include any member of the University community
who show interest in and wish to abide by the provisions of this constitution.

ARTICLE 5- RELATIONSHIP
5.1 CASOR (UNILAG) is the students’ evangelical arm of the Assemblies of God,
Nigeria, in the University of Lagos, and it maintains a healthy relationship with the
church at General Council, District and Local church levels.
5.2 When necessary, may collaborate with other Christian bodies towards the fulfillment
of its objectives.

ARTICLE 6- FUNDING
6.1 The funding of CASOR (UNILAG) activities shall include:
(a.) Subventions from Lagos District CASOR Department
(b.) Donations and Love Offerings from individuals and groups, both within and
outside the campus.
6.2 The signatories to CASOR (UNILAG CHAPTER) account shall be the president,
the treasurer and the secretary general.
6.3 All donations to CASOR (Unilag Chapter) in form of cheques, Bank drafts, e.t.c
should be addressed to CASOR (UNILAG CHAPTER).

ARTICLE 7- OFFICERS, POWERS & DUTIES, AND
ELECTORAL PROCEDURES AND COMMITTEES.
CASOR (Unilag chapter) shall have the following offices in the executive:

1. The President.
2. The Vice President
3. The Secretary General
4. The Assistant Secretary General
5. The Treasurer
6. The Research Director
7. The Out-reach Director
8. The Prayer Secretary
9. The Music Director
10. The Technical and Logistics Director
11. The Brothers’/Sisters’ Coordinator
12. The Public Relations Officer (PRO)

7.1.1 The President:
a. The President shall be a male/female.
b. Shall preside over all committee and executive meetings.
c. Shall supervise the work of the other executives.
d. Shall represent the fellowship at any gathering; he/she may delegate any executive to represent the fellowship in such a gathering.

7.1.2 The Vice President
a. The Vice President shall be a male/female.
b. Shall deputize in the absence of the President.
c. (i.)When the Vice President is a male; he shall be the Brothers Coordinator and their
shall be an office of the Sisters Coordinator.
(ii.)When the Vice President is a female; she shall be the Sisters Coordinator and their shall
be an office of the Brothers Coordinator.
d. Shall ensure the availability of venues for all fellowship programmes.

7.1.3 The Secretary General
a. The Secretary General shall be responsible for taking minutes of all CASOR (UNILAG CHAPTER) Executive meetings.
b. Shall summon Executive meetings after due consultation with the President or in agreement with two-third of the Executives.
c. Shall undertake all correspondence on behalf of the fellowship.
d. Shall present an annual report of the activities of the fellowship, copies of which should be made available to the coordinator, patron(s)/matron(s), course adviser(s).
e. In conjunction with the Assistant Secretary General shall plan for Sunday Services.

7.1.4 The Assistant Secretary General
a. Shall assist the Secretary General in the discharge of duties.
b. Shall stand in the absence of the Secretary General.
c. Shall compile a record of CASOR members especially graduating members in every academic year.

7.1.5 The Treasurer
a. He/She shall be the purse bearer of the fellowship, and as well keep all financial records
of the fellowship.
b. Shall expend/release/withdraw money with the written approval of the President.
c. Shall submit a statement of account, showing the revenue and the income of the
fellowship to the executive members after each semester.
d. Shall coordinate all forms of fund generated with due consultation with the President.
e. Shall use his/her discretion (will power) to source for fund i.e from:
i. The fellowship
ii. Any Denomination (Church).
iii. Any company, organization or individual.

7.1.6 The Prayer Secretary.
a. The Prayer Secretary shall coordinate all prayer related activities of the fellowship.
b. Shall ensure that such activities are geared towards promoting the prayer life of the
fellowship.
c. May appoint someone to lead a prayer session.
d. Shall constitute a prayer team, which shall be thoroughly screened by the executive
members.

7.1.7 The Research Director
a. Shall organize effective Bible Study programmes that will enhance the spiritual growth of the fellowship.
b. May appoint or invite speakers within or outside the fellowship to speak on certain key topics after due consultation with the President.
c. Shall be the Sunday School Ministry coordinator.
d. Shall keep fellowship materials such as books, audio and videotapes, and tracts.
e. Shall at his/her own discretion appoint Departmental heads for assistance.

7.1.8 The Out-reach Director
a. Shall coordinate effectively all the evangelistic activities of the fellowship.
b. Shall liaise with the President in mapping out strategies for proper evangelism of the campus through outreach programmes, personal/group evangelism, hall evangelism, crusades, etc.
c. Shall see that focus is placed on visitation of members, especially new ones.
d. Shall see to the areas of needs of the members and shall proffer necessary solutions
based on his/her findings.

7.1.9 The Public Relations Officer (P.R.O)
a. The Publicity Secretary shall be responsible for all publicity of CASOR (UNILAG CHAPTER) programmes.
b. Shall see to the dissemination of information concerning the fellowship’s activities to other fellowship, groups within and outside the campus, as well as contacting invited speakers.
c. Shall be the custodian of the fellowship’s publications such as Magazines and Newsletters.

7.1.10 The Music Director
a. The Music Director shall be the coordinate of the choir, oversee the Band and the Drama department.
b. Shall at his/her own discretion appoint people to head any of the departments under his or her jurisdiction.
c. Shall report any act of indiscipline and insubordination of any choir member(s) to the executive members of the Music unit and appropriate actions shall be taken.
d. Shall submit comprehensive programme of action to the central executives.

7.1.11 The Technical and Logistics Director
a. Shall coordinate the organizing department, ushering and decoration department.
b. Shall account for the property of the fellowship in his/her department, and submit a report of the assets of the fellowship after each semester to the central executive.
c. Shall be in charge of the fellowship’s musical instrument, chairs and other items.
d. Must be at the fellowship venues before the start of the meeting and shall supervise orderly arrangement of instrument at fellowship meetings.
e. Shall in consultation with the President make arrangement for the use of the bus when he/she needs it.

7.1.12 The Brothers’/Sisters’ Coordinator
a. i. The Brothers’ Coordinator shall coordinate the activities of the brothers’ forum with due
consultation with the forum's executives.
ii. The Sisters’ Coordinator shall coordinate the activities of the sisters forum with due
consultation with the forum's executives.
b. He/She shall map out programmes that will improve on the spiritual and social life of the brothers/sisters.
c. Shall ensure that brothers’/sisters’ week is held after due consultation with the forum’s executives and make necessary recommendations to the central executives.
d. Shall initiate and ensure free interactions among brothers\sisters in the fellowship.




7.2 COMPOSITION OF ELECTORAL COMMITTEE.
7.2.1 The electoral committee shall comprise mainly of final year members and other members found worthy by the executive members, regardless of their level, and should not exceed six in number.
7.2.2 The appointment of the electoral committee shall be ratified by nothing less than two-third of the executive members.

7.3 ELECTORAL PROCEDURE.
7.3.1 All but the final year and year one members are eligible to be voted for as Executive officers.
7.3.2 All members are eligible to vote.
7.3.3 Tenure of all executive officers shall be for one academic session.
7.3.4 The election of Executive officers shall be by secret balloting.
7.3.5 Interviews shall be conducted by members of the Electoral committee to ascertain the willingness of the Executives elect to serve.
7.3.6 The out-going Executives shall organize a one-day leadership training for the Executives elect.
7.3.7 Elections should hold latest a month to the beginning of first semester examination.

7.4 COMMITTEE.
The President, in agreement with other executive officers, may form committee for
various purposes as deemed necessary.

ARTICLE 8- MISCELLANEOUS
8.1.1 CASOR (UNILAG CHAPTER) PROPERTIES
a. Each Executive Officer shall be responsible for the safe keeping of the fellowship’s
property within his/her care.
b.The properties of the fellowship in each exco's care should not be used for personal
purposes and where it has to be used, the consent of the president, the secretary
general and at least one more executive member must be sought.

8.2 DISCIPLINE OF EXECUTIVE MEMBERS.
a. Any Executive member that fails to turn up for executive meetings for three consecutive
times without any genuine reason shall be suspended from acting as an Executive for a
month.
b. Any Executive member that stays away from fellowship for three (3) consecutive
fellowship meetings shall be suspended from acting as an Executive for a month.

8.3 DISCIPLINE OF MEMBERS.
a. Membership of CASOR (UNILAG CHAPTER) shall be maintained as long as the members co-operate with the general Spirit and purpose of the fellowship. Those who fail to do so may be suspended or excommunicated by two-third votes of the members.
b. Any CASOR (UNILAG CHAPTER) member so disciplined - that is excommunicated -who is a baptized or full member of Assemblies of God Church, Nigeria should be
communicated to his/her local church.

ARTICLE 9- AMENDMENT PROCEDURE
9.1 Before any amendment, the consent of the chapter’s coordinator should be sought and sections needing amendment should be recommended to him.

9.2 The Executive members of CASOR (UNILAG CHAPTER) shall have the right to
repeal any article, section or sub-section of this constitution that does not agree with the
aims and objectives of CASOR (UNILAG CHAPTER) by a two-third majority vote.

9.3 The Executive members of CASOR (UNILAG CHAPTER) have the right to amend or
add to any article, section or sub-section of this constitution by a two-third majority
vote after due consultation with the chapter’s coordinator, provided such additions or
amendments are such as would promote the aims and objectives of CASOR (UNILAG
CHAPTER) in ARTICLE THREE (3) of this constitution.

ARTICLE 10- CITATION
This constitution shall be cited as Christ Ambassador’s Students’ Outreach, University of Lagos Chapter Constitution.
