CASOR PROGRESS REPORT
(JANUARY 25th – APRIL 10th 2004)



The progress report below tends to highlight the activities of the fellowship from January 25, 2004 when the present set of executives were sworn in.

INTRODUCTION

CASOR, an acronym for Christ Ambassadors’ Students Out-Reach is an interdenominational fellowship on Campus, it has operated for more than a decade on this Campus. It is registered with the school authority through the office of the Dean of Students Affairs.

The fellowship meets as scheduled below

ADMINISTRATION

The fellowship has twelve Executives that supervise the activities of the fellowship,
these executives also appointed unit heads for various departments under their portfolio to make the administration of the fellowship easier and more effective.

The present set of executives were elected on the 11th of December 2003 and were subsequently sworn in on the 25th of January 2004.
Since inception, these excos have tried their best to put things in shape, the members of the executive includes:

The executives do have a regular meeting to see to the position of things within the fellowship, in order to avoid the piling up of duties; the executives fixed a regular time for their meetings that is observed every Tuesday by 8.00pm immediately after the Prayer meeting.



VARIOUS UNITS PERFORMANCE

The various units of the fellowship are now very vibrant and they are contributing immensely towards the growth of the fellowship. Units in the fellowship now have a
regular time for their meetings and they have really been up and doing in the discharge of their duties.
The fellowship’s choir known as the Dew of Hermon are well known on campus and have been invited several times by a lot of fellowships and churches to minister.
Also the Drama group of the fellowship has also been revived and they are doing quite fine.
The Bible Study that the fellowship organizes every Thursday has also been rechristened ‘Refreshed and Transformed’ and to the glory of God, souls have been blessed through this. The fellowship’s library is also doing fine.
The Publicity Unit of the fellowship has also been very impressive trying to project the image of the fellowship on Campus.
The prayer unit has also been doing very wonderfully over the years likewise the organizing unit which has of recent been very wonderful and much more dedicated in the discharge of their duties.



FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Since the inception of this present set of executives, the following programs have been held.

The first that kick started the tenure was the Brothers’ Week organized by the Brothers’ Forum of the fellowship a.k.a The Pillars. The program had as its theme “BREAKING THE FALLOW GROUNDS”. The program started on 16th-22nd Feb, they started on the 16th of February with visitation to members of the fellowship in their various halls of residence. On the 17th they had an Inter-fellowship bible Quiz competition where they invited a number of fellowships to take part. On the 19th they had a Public lecture which was tagged the making of a Complete man, the lecture was delivered by the Assistant District Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, Apapa District in person of Rev. (Dr) Broderick. On Sunday they had the grand finale of their program.

The Sisters’ week was also organized by the Sisters’ forum of the fellowship a.k.a The Prevailers. It was held on the 1st to 7th of March, it had as its theme “HE TURNED MY ASHES INTO BEAUTY ” they also started their week with visitation to members and reaching out to non-members on the 1st of March. On the 2nd of March they had a round table discussion on the topic called the perfect love. On the 4th they also had a public lecture on the theme of their week that was delivered by Mrs Ojukwu, a mother from the Assemblies of God Church, Surulere. They also had the grand finale of their program on Sunday 7th of March.

The fellowship also had its Send forth/Investiture ceremony. During this program the Staff advisers of the fellowship were inducted. A major thing the fellowship executives have been willing to do since they were sworn in was to get staff advisers for the fellowship and to the glory of God they were able to do that eventually. The following Staff advisers were gotten.

Mr Ladi Ogunwolu - Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering


They were inducted on the 14th of March 2004. The day also marked the day the fellowship had its Send forth Service for its final year brethren. The program has as its theme “ASCENDING INTO THE REALMS OF FAVOUR”. A lot of Students both from within and outside the school joined the fellowship to celebrate, a number of parents and the families of the Staff advisers also joined the fellowship to celebrate on this occasion.

Other programs the fellowship excos introduced include: The word charge: This is a 10mins exhortation during the Sunday services; this is not part of the sermon. It is meant to awaken the consciousness of the members, it is a soul lifting message that is meant to encourage and challenge members, it has really been a source of blessing to a lot of members and non-members. We have invited pastors from other fellowships both within and outside the University of Lagos to come and deliver this word charge.
Another program that was also enhanced is the Thursday Bible Study, which has been re-christened “REFRESHED AND TRANSFORMED”. This Thursday bible study has really been a testimony in the mouths of a lot of people.
Another program that the fellowship introduced is a program called “DANCING IN THE SUN”. It is held every last Sunday of the month; it is used as a thanksgiving

service. The fellowship’s Choir prepares specially for the program and groups are also invited to minister in songs during the program.



INCOME AND EXPENDITURE

The fellowship expends a lot on its day to day activities. During the period under review that is January 25th-April 10th, 2004, a summary of the income and expenditure of the fellowship is highlighted below.

The major source of income of the fellowship comes from the offering the fellowship is able to raise once in a year from the Assemblies of God Churches in Lagos District.
During the period under review, the fellowship collected a sum of #50,000 (Fifty thousand Naira) from the Coordinator as part of the offering raised last year.

Another source of income is the offerings and tithes from members which varies from #1,500 (One thousand five hundred Naira) to #4,000 (Four thousand Naira) weekly.

Executive dues, all executives of the fellowship also pay #1,000 each (One thousand Naira) every session.

Other sources of income includes pledges from members, donations from Senior Friends. All these form the sources of income of the fellowship.

The expenditure of the fellowship under these period includes

Amount spent on send forth/Investiture of Staff advisers = #43,000 (Forty three thousand Naira).
This includes printing of certificates for the final year brethren and the staff advisers, the printing of posters, entertainment of guests, purchase of gifts for the final year brethren, video coverage and photographs.

Maintenance of the bus and Instruments= #26,000 (Twenty six thousand Naira)
This includes fuelling of the bus, repair of some musical instruments.

Renting of Chairs=#2,500 (Two thousand five hundred Naira)
This is the amount paid for the chairs we used for our Thursday and Sunday services.

Welfare of Needy members & Entertainment of Visitors=#7,000 (Seven thousand Naira)
This includes the various amount used to help some members whenever they are not financially buoyant, also it includes amount spent to entertain the first timers and visitors to the fellowship Sunday services.

Preparation for this year’s CASOR’s day = #8,500 (Eight thousand five hundred Naira)
This includes the amount spent on the printing of posters used to create awareness, transportation to various churches.

The Brothers and Sisters week was financed by the brothers and sisters forum respectively, each member contributes a certain amount to finance the program.
The breakdown of the Brothers’ budget shows that they expended about #38,000 (thirty eight thousand Naira) for the successful organization of their week.



NEXT SESSION PLANS & PROGRAMS

The fellowship has also laid out strategic plans for the coming session. To enhance the effectiveness and to avoid break in communication, the fellowship excos will be meeting with members two Fridays in each month during the break.
Part of the programs for the next session includes

The Freshers Welcome: This is a program we organize for the newly admitted students; this is to plant their feet in God’s vineyard immediately they come in to Campus. During this program we invite people to give them career talks.
This is a program that will cost the fellowship about #30,000 (Thirty thousand Naira ). Posters and banners will be printed to publicize the fellowship on campus, tracts will also be printed.


The Evangelism week: This is a program planned to enable us preach the gospel round the campus. It is a program that will run for a week. This program will cost the fellowship about #7,000 (Seven thousand Naira) for the printing of tracts and printing of posters for awareness.

The Omega Praise Concert: This is an annual praise concert of the fellowship; this year’s own will be the 5th in the series. This is a major program of the fellowship. It will cost the fellowship about #160,000 (One hundred and Sixty Thousand Naira) . This amount includes the amount spent on publicity, amount spent on decorations and logistics, a number of groups will also be invited and they will be compensated accordingly, a guest artist will also be invited. The 3rd Omega Praise Concert has Mike Aremu as its guest artist. The video cassettes and V.C.D’s of the 3rd and 4th Omega Praise concerts are available in the fellowship.

The fellowship is also planning a reunion for all its alumni. We want to bring together everybody that have passed through the fellowship while they were in the University of Lagos. It is going to be a dinner organized on a weekend in the second semester of the session.

There are more programs the fellowship is planning for in the coming session, which include a number of Seminars, all the programs will be highlighted in details in our next edition of progress report.
